ABS eparts and TecCom Launch PACT initiative

Further to their recent partnership agreement, ABS eparts and TecCom UK Limited are delighted to announce the launch of their ‘Partnership for Aftermarket Connectivity Technologies’, to be known as PACT.

PACT is a ground-breaking initiative by the two former competitors to connect their exchanges and make electronic trading easier for all in the Automotive Aftermarket.

The driving principle of the initiative is that no organisation should have to pay twice to enable electronic trading for their business.

The PACT initiative focuses on bringing compatibility to what have historically been disparate electronic trading services. This has led to a fragmented market with no one exchange having a critical mass of users.

In order for the market to embrace electronic trading, PACT intends to remove the confusion and perceived business risk associated with selecting any one of the many options available. This will be realised by providing seamless interconnectivity between the eparts and TecCom exchanges, whilst also working with the leading system providers in the Aftermarket.

“Now that eparts and TecCom have joined forces, we need to reflect the unity of our message, and we believe PACT achieves this”, said Peter Hollowood, Director of TecCom UK and Ireland. “We’re in ongoing discussions with the major software vendors in the Market with a view to them joining PACT as affiliates, and we see real enthusiasm for what we’re trying to achieve here”

Mark Rudge, Managing Director of eparts further explains the rationale behind the introduction of PACT. “Beyond the partnership of eparts and TecCom, the aim of PACT is to bring together all of the trading solutions in the market under one banner, acting like an ‘Intel inside’ seal of recognition. The different solutions will remain, however the customer should feel confident that wherever they see the PACT logo, they’ll have a solution which provides interconnectivity and maximum reach amongst their trading partners. In turn, this enables the huge cost reductions and process efficiencies that electronic trading brings to be realised more quickly.”

PACT currently enables connectivity between over 50 suppliers and 500 Distributors in the UK Aftermarket.
